Less is more?

Today is the day to exfoliate.

Ok, not literally, but figuratively. I was reading Brookie's blog (which is amazing - Brookie has more talent in her pinkie than I will EVER have) and she presented an idea she found on yet another blog called Makeunder My Life. The idea is to "exfoliate" something superfluous in your life every week. I often feel super cluttered, especially when moving (I live a very nomadic lifestyle) and I would love to "shed" things I don't need. However, I have a hard time deciphering if I will need said extraneous item at some future point. You never know when you are going to feel the sudden urge to read that book that has been sitting on your shelf for a few years, or use that empty photo album (does anyone print pictures anymore), or wear that necklace that you bought at Target for that one outfit years ago and haven't worn since. This is an example of my train of thought.

So, in honor of moving day Saturday, I have a goal to get rid of 1/3 of what I own. (Ok, maybe closer to 20% of what I own). You are my witness. I have a plan. Check on me. No, seriously!

You're moving again? I was reading Brooke's blog this weekend about exfoliating and I think I need to take the challenge too. We have waaaaaay too much stuff in this house.

Let me go through your clothing cast-offs before you throw them away!

That is a great idea! I think that I will do that this week...and let you and Mom go through everything before I get rid of it:)

YEA LAURA! I have to say... that since I have been exfoliating, every once in a while, I'll think "oh, I used to have a {insert tossed item here}" and it has never been heartbreaking, or even remotely upsetting. Because then I think "But was I really going to keep that {insert tossed item here} for 4 years just so I could use it on this one random occasion?" Good luck Laura... you are going to LOVE IT! And thanks for the kind words!

So cool! If you happen to want to guest post on my blog, I'd love to have you write and photograph your own makeunder!

Let me know if you're interested (jess@jesslc.com)

Happy exfoliating!
